OUR MISSION
The Johnny Mercer Foundation and the preservation of American Popular Song is vital to the future of our children and our nation, our sense of pride in ourselves, and our understanding of one another. Our goal is to reflect Johnny's lifetime of generosity and to support, through his royalties and through private donations many of the causes he cared so deeply about where he realized a need for "accentuating the positive." HELP US ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE
Imagine an entire generation of children growing up with no knowledge of their rich musical heritage; The songs that mirror our hearts and souls; The songs our parents sung around the piano; The songs we heard when we fell in love; The songs that reflect our American Dream. The Johnny Mercer Foundation is passionately devoted to introducing Our Great American Songbook to our children and needs your help. Learn more

At the Goodspeed Opera House from April 21-July 2, 2006.
Johnny Mercer and Gene de Paul (the composers of last season's Goodspeed hit, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) wrote the score to Li'l Abner, which features a book by Norman Panama and Melvin Frank, based on the comic strip created by Al Capp. "Trouble begins in the cornseed town of Dogpatch, USA when the government decides to wipe it off the map," according to Goodspeed. The show is "filled with gentle satire, rib-tickling humor, and a host of brash, catchy tunes" including "If I Had My Druthers," "Jubilation T. Cornpone," “Love in a Home,” “Progress Is the Root of All Evil,” and "The Country's in the Very Best of Hands."
